After a Hilly bike ride through the forest and past the Monastery in Lluc we climb over a short rise to the top of the Coll de cal Reis and look down at the valley below. Before us lies one of the greatest roads ever built, it is pure cycling perfection descending down into the small fishing town of Sa Calobra. This is Perhaps the most famous climb on the island and a must do for any cyclist. It is one of the highlights on our Mallorca bike tours. Sa Calobra is 10km of tarmac draped on the side of a mountain like a coiled snake. With it’s 26 harpin turns, and climbing 668 meters at an average 7.1% gradient, it packs quite a punch. One of the harpins is so extreme it does a 270 degree turn and heads back over itself like a corkscrew. This is your chance to test yourself against the pro’s or go for that Strava time. Once back up the climb we ride up over the Puig Major past 2 lakes and follow the steady descent down through the citrus groves to Port de Soller. Ride: 53, miles 5800ft
Day 5 – Coll de Soller Loop
Todays bike ride is a little shorter but no less hillier. We start by riding up over the Coll de Soller, another windy road with a nice steady gradient. Then a challenging descent down into the valley to Palmanyola. After reaching the valley bottom we turn back into the mountains and make our way up to the pretty town of Valldemossa, It’s a great place to get coffee/lunch and walk around the interesting shops. The return leg of our ride takes us out and along part of the west coast road through the charming town of Deia. It’s home to Artists and eccentrics alike who come to this mountain town to be inspired. To finish off our bike ride we continue along the cost and decend back into Port de Soller. Ride: 40 miles, 2800ft
